Windows 7, Server 2008R2, Exchange 2010 and Office 2010 End-of-Life
Support for Windows 7 is ending. Is your business prepared?
Support for Windows 7 is ending. Is your business prepared?
Microsoft announced that January 14th, 2020, will be the end of life (EOL) for several of its software programs. Windows 7, Windows Server 2008/R2, Exchange Server 2010, and Office 2010 will all be affected. Microsoft will no longer support these software programs with updates, patches, or support. You should not run software that is not supported, since it may contain security issues that are not fixed and can put your computer and information at risk.
What does end of support (EOL) mean?
If you continue to use any of the listed software after support has ended, your computers will still work, but it may become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Your PC will continue to start and run, but Microsoft will no longer provide the following support for your business:
- No technical support
- No software updates
- No security updates
What does this mean for your business?
This means that to stay secure and compliant all Windows 7 (and older) devices and software must be upgraded to Windows 10. Any Dell computers purchased since 2016 should have an operating system upgrade option that will allow us to upgrade the existing hardware. Any non-Dell computers, or computers purchased purchased before 2016, will most likely need to be replaced completely.
